10 Wild Animal Crossing Signs in South Africa

During a trip to South Africa, I was – quite literally – stopped in my tracks when I passed by a large warning sign with a hippopotomus stamped across its front. I chuckled to myself and shook my head, remembering the most exotic sign I would come across in my hometown of Virginia featured a white-tailed deer. I compiled a list of my favorites, all found in Hoedspruit, which serves a gateway to nearby Kruger National Park. Most signs were found on the main R40 highway that runs north to south through this small town, while others were found at the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estates, a gated community in the town center. I hope you enjoy and chuckle (and maybe even shake your head too) at the exotic species featured on this list of unique animal crossing signs.
